Layers

You need to use your Layer Pellete for almost everything. Like blending for example. You need to use it. If you don't have your layer pallete already, press F8 on your keyboard, other wise go to View|Pelletes|Layers You will see a new kind of 'dokument' will apear when you do this on the right hand side on Paint Shop Pro. There shouldn't be anything on it, no layers. To get layers just open up a new dokument. Now look back at your Layers Pallete and you will see a new layer, saying background.

Now if you put a picture on it, copy and then right click on your dokument and press Paste|Paste as a new layer. Go back to your layers Pallete, and you should see a new layer, saying 'Raster 1' Which means it's your first layer. Keep adding some photo's and you'll see some changes, followed on by Raster 2, Raster 3, Raster 4 etc.

Now if you have a 'Raster 2' then try to put 'Raster 1' or '3' ontop of it It will not work. It'll go under it because it is under the 'Raster 2' on your layers pallete. If you want to change it, move Raster 1 to the very top, now try putting Raster 1 ontop of Raster 2 and it'll work! See what the diffarence is? That's what you need to do, if your having trouble with that.

Now have you ever tried to rub out something for Raster 1 (or another number) and it won't work? Don't worry, it's not you or your computer, or your program, it's just your layers pallete!! Now, If I want to rub out something from 'Raster 1' and it doesn't work, it's only because my mouse is clicked on another number then Raster 1. So the point of this is if you want to do some changes/effects to a Raster layer, you have to MAKE SURE that your mouse is actually CLICKED on that Raster layer. You can't expect it to work on Raster 1, if your mouse is clicked on Raster 2. Get it?? So put it this way, if a Raster has a Blue background it means it's clicked, if it's white, then you have to click it until it turns Blue.

If you want to put an effect on a Raster, above it theres soemthing saying 'Normal' You must click on that, and select which effect you want on your Raster that you've clicked on.

And one more thing, just say you wanted those words to be on your layout, but you don't want it to be on top of all your layers, what you need to do is copy and paste it as a new layer on your dokument, and then go to layers pallete, you will see it, saying Raster # (number) click and drag it to be above the 'background' So now it should be 2nd on your layer pallete. Go back to your dokument, and you'll see a change! If you need to rub out some bits, click on that Raster and start to rub out peices.

That's all the basic on your layers pallete!! I tried my best to explain everything very clearly! Do you think I did? Anyway, if you have any questions, please contact me, or ask me. Thanks :)
